Colorwork Class

Beginning Knit

First Time Knitting for Beginners

This is a special one day ‘make and take’ class with visiting teacher Dawn Ortega.   The goal is to get casted on, learn the knit stitch and create a felted wool potholder or trivet.  Felting will hide a multitude of ‘learning boo-boos’ – plus, felting is just cool!   Two sessions available:  Saturday March 23 from 10:00 to 12:30 or Sunday March 24 from 10:00 to 12:30 – choose your day.  Class Fee $35  + materials  *Full payment required at registration.  Materials:  One skein of worsted weight wool, US8 circular needles.

Beginning Crochet

First Time Crochet for Beginners

This is a special one day ‘make and take’ class with visiting teacher Dawn Ortega.   Basic principles of crochet terms, yarn selection,  and basic crochet stitches will be introduced with the goal of creating a crochet potholder or trivet with DK weight organic cotton yarn. Two sessions available:  Saturday March 23 from 1:00 to 3:30 or Sunday March 24 from 1:00 to 3:30 – choose your day.  Class Fee is $35 plus materials.   *Full payment required at registration.  Materials:  One skein of Appalachian Baby US Organic Cotton, Crochet Hook size I.

Special Crochet Class

The Daisy Chain Blanket

This class is for all the Happy Hookers out there.  It seems like everything is knit, right?  Well, not here at Yarn and You – we never forget our Crochet Crowd.  Guest teacher Dawn Ortega will be hosting a special class for the Daisy Chain design by Kerrie Coultas of Harlowe Monroe Handmade.  This stitch can be adjusted to any size project from tote to pillow to scarf to blanket.  Choose any DK to worsted weight yarn in as many colors as your heart desires; or choose a gradient or self-striping yarn – the sky really is the limit.  One time class Saturday March 23 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  Class Fee $35  plus materials.  *Full payment required at registration.  Materials:  DK to worsted weight yarn and G Hook (or size to match yarn).

Needle Felted Scarf Workshop

Special Event

It’s almost here!  This all day workshop by Midge Jackson from Tyler, Texas is going to be A-MAZ-ING.  Come spend the day with us and learn this incredible technique to apply your own spin to a scrumptious pashmina type shawl.    Fee is $60 which includes lunch.  You will need a single punch felting needle and at least a 4-punch needle.  For those who don’t have needle felting tools – we have a beginner kit for under $10 available for purchase the day of the workshop.  March 30 from 10 am to 4:30 pm. *Full payment required at registration.  All fibers included in fee.  See website for more details.

Pre-registration is required. Yarn and supplies must be purchased from Yarn and You. A 50% deposit is required in advance unless otherwise stated. Registration requirement: Name, Phone Number, Email Address and Deposit Payment.
